Cooking Times For Roast Beef That Won’t Burn!

Cooking times for roast beef are incredibly fickle, and in keeping the integrity of the beef, it’s best if you have an internal thermometer to keep track of how well done (or not!) your beef is. However, if you don’t have an internal meat thermometer, you can follow these guidelines to help time the cooking of your roast beef.

Remember, times will change based on the amount of fat you have on your roast beef, and the weight of your roast. Please add or subtract cooking time based on these factors. The following cooking times are based on an average 5-7 pound roast. Cook your roast at 350º.

The rule of thumb for cooking times for roast beef is to cook it for 45 per pound. This will give the meat a cook between medium to medium-well. That means, if you have a seven-pound roast beef, then you want to cook it for about 5 ½ hours.

When your roast is finished cooking, you want to stick it with a grilling fork (one of those big, two-pronged ones) and hold it just high enough so the roast can slide off the fork. If the beef slides off, you know your roast beef is done.
