Broiling filet mignon is particularly tricky because you’re trying to cook something that is especially sensitive to high temperatures and cooking times and trying cook it at a very high temperature. It is important to always keep an eye on your steaks to make sure they don’t get over cooked and ruined. Also, do no check the tenderness or their temperature with a meat thermometer or anything else that cuts into the steak, because you will lose essential juices. It is best instead to give it a poke to see how tender they are. Also, keep in mind that filet mignon should never be cooked past medium-rare.
Broiling Filet Mignon:
-Take 2 5oz. steaks and season on both sides
-Place the steaks on a pan 3-4″ from heat
-Broil 2 minutes on each side for rare
-Broil 3-4 minutes on each side for medium rare
