First prepare your squash by washing it under cold water and cutting it in half.
Steamed Squash
Bring about 1/3 water in a pot to rolling boil. Then place the squash on a steamer rack on top of the pot. Cooking times vary, but 20-45 minutes should be long enough to guarantee success.
Baked Squash
Preheat your oven to 350ºF (176ºC). Then before placing them in the oven, pull out the seeds and bake for 1 1/2-2 hours. Once they are ready, separate the meat from the skin and dress to serve.
Fried Squash
Divide the squash into smaller bite-sized portions that are easy to fry on a pan. Then throw together a batter made out of milk, eggs, flour, salt and any other creative ideas you have. Then take the squash and cover it with the batter before frying it.
Grilled Squash
Cut your squash into serving size and place it on skewers sos it will be easy to grill. Then remove the excess skin you don’t want. Grill for about 10-12 minutes with the lid down before turning and repeating for another 10-12 minutes. Apply seasoning and sauce to your desire. Once they are ready add a little more butter and you’re ready to go.
Boiled Squash
Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil. Then divide the squash to serving size and place them in and cover. Simmer for 45 minutes to an hour. Check the tenderness with a poker and once they are to your desire drain the water and let them cool off.
